The San Sebastián Experiment

Tuesday, Sep 8th, 2015 - Sunday, Oct 11th, 2015
4:00pm - 11:00pm

Salt Tasting Room
45 Blood Alley between Abbott and Carrall

One of the city's renowned wine bars is bringing a taste of Spain to Vancouver. Gastown's Salt Tasting Room has partnered with local specialty food vendor Bosa Foods to serve up San Sebastián-style dining by offering free tapas to hungry guests, beginning September 8, 2015.

On a recent trip to Spain, Bosa sourced a variety of high-quality, Spanish delicacies new to most Vancouver palettes. With a little help from Bosa, Salt is bringing a taste of this delectable foodie culture to Vancouverites, offering free tapas to patrons of the restaurant - just as they're offered in tapas bars all over Spain.

With titillating plates piled with mixed olives, white anchovies, six-month aged manchego cheese, bone-in serrano ham, salchichon iberico and chorizo sausages, and marinated calamari rings, these Spanish goodies will likely have local foodies' mouths watering.

Curious foodies who are ready for a taste of San Sebastián can visit Salt Tasting Room, September 8 to October 11, from 3-6pm. Parched patrons can order a tasting flight or glass of wine, beer or sherry, and enjoy complimentary tapas to sample Bosa's new Spanish product line.

9:00pm - 2:00am

M.I.A.
364 Water St.

Julio may have appeared to burst on to the scene in late 2009, but the lead up to the Julio Bashmore EP for Claude VonStroke’s highly influential Dirtybird label was essentially a lifetime in the making. Aged 14, a battered old PC and a copy of Reason became Julio’s very first ‘instruments.’ He later experimented with synthesizers and guitars, playing in bands for a brief period, but by the time he was old enough to experience club culture firsthand, Julio had made the realisation that DJing was the true vehicle in which to deliver his music.

Classic modern techno is exactly what Sian and his label Octopus represent. When you have interests ranging from entomology, cosmology and marine biology, to the social impact of the rave generation, you tend to make unusual art. Sian stands out as a little more bohemian than the average electronic talent.

Sian is regularly appearing at the worlds most respected clubs and festivals in Europe, Asia, USA, Canada, Eastern Europe, South America, Australia and beyond. He brings voodoo to the dance floor every time at clubs like like Fabric, Avalon, Space, Weekend, Berghain, King King, Inox, The Endup, The Loft, Lantern, Industrial Copera, Social Club, Blackmarket Membership, Arma 17, Secret Sundaze, The Pod and more! Schooling heaving crowds, Sian brings his trademark experimental DJing style to the masses via multiple outputs of explosive techno, combined with FX and loops cut on the fly.

Whether conducting everlasting sweat soaked DJ sessions or creating timeless dance music, Sian is a truly diverse and original talent. At once chic and debonaire, always intensely inventive.
