RESOLUTION 1: Be More Active
Get started right away with our own local Mecca of fitness, flexibility and relaxation, Inner Space Yoga.
It kicks stress and toxins out the door and, as yoga teacher and director/owner of Inner Space Yoga Rebecca Walker explains, the hardest part about beginning yoga for the first-time is getting through that very safe door. Once you're there, you will find a network of support and an incredibly rewarding practice while you reduce stress, elevate your metabolism, find pain relief and a mind-body connection. Inner Space offers beginner yoga, that focuses on foundations of yogic practice. Rebecca recommends beginning with yoga at least twice a week to get into the lifestyle. Just in time for your resolution, Inner Space is offering unlimited attendence for six weeks at only $120.
All you need is an open mind and some comfortable clothes! Check out their schedule here.
RESOLUTION 2: Get Your Skin in Shape Too
In taking better care of yourself, taking better care of your skin is extremely important. After a holiday season of eating and drinking, your system can become sluggish, as well as your skin.
Daybreak Spa in Gastown offers an amazing mini facial, a customized 30 minute facial treatment to target specific skin concerns. Daybreak uses Dermalogica, the number one skin product for professionals in the industry: free of lanolin, mineral oils, SD alcohol, artificial colours and fragrances.
Reset your skin for the year. More details here.
RESOLUTION 3: Eat Better
It's important to know what's in your food, where it comes from, how it got to your plate. Luckily, most of our chefs and restaurants down here are deeply concerned with bringing you just the best. Between Chill Winston's fresh Steelhead from Lois Lake on Vancouver Island, locally brewed coffee beans at Coffeebar, Milano, or Take 5 Cafe (just to name a few!), or Nelson the Seagull's housemade bread, Gastown businesses are interested in working from the ground up.
Know where you food comes from, look into it and ask questions! People are always happy to answer.
RESOLUTION 4: Tune Yourself Up with Natural Healing
If your new year is a little more stressful and tiring than you foresaw, or if you sense that you need some more "you" time, the services at Metta Healing are just the place to start.
Offering a highly customized approach to wholistic medicine, treatments include Acutonics (otherwise known as Sound Healing), Massage, Acupuncture, Aromatherapy, and a new vibrational medicine Phytobiophysics®, as well as professional Nutritional advising.
While many of us know a little about Acupuncture, the process and healing potential of Sound Healing, Aromatherapy, and Phytobiophysics are less commonly understood forms of Holistic Medicine. "It's like a total healing package," Brian continues, "It heals in the deepest way." Metta Healing offers free consultations, where you can discuss conditions, get to know the space and what they do, with no obligations.
One treatment is all it may take to feel relief. Check out Metta Healing here.
Resolution 5: Get Organized
We are all late, forget things, or leave that mess a little too long -- at least sometimes. Tackle your goals for becoming more on top of your to-do lists by writing them down! There are tons of beautiful pens, stationery, and agendas peppered through our shops. Here are some beauties from the new Meadow Gifts on Water Street.
Resolution 6: Update Your Look
Now, this one can mean a lot of things, but let's just start with hair. In the dark of winter, sometimes brightening up with a cut, some highlights, or even a colour change can be just the thing you need.
