dutil Records: Vancouver's dutil Creates Its Own Record LabelWritten by Administrator , on Tuesday, 10 January 2012 18:31Hey musicians! You’re going to want to read this. For dutil, it’s onto a new year and a new project. Dutil loves their denim just as much as they love the culture and scene that stands behind it: creativity, art and music. Beginning this winter, dutil is putting together their first-ever record label. As owner Eric puts it, “"I failed at being a professional musician. I wanted to give people the chance that I never had. It is harder and harder for people to have their music stand out in the market place and dutil wanted to use our network to give exposure to artists we thought had something to say." The records are going to be strictly vinyl, which was a logical choice for dutil, where the focus is on the finer details, the creative process, and final quality. “Looking at the artwork on the outside of the record, then pulling out the sleeve, touching the soft paper that has lyrics to peoples souls. Nothing is more beautiful!”, Eric explains, “Music has lost its discoverability component, it is too accessible on the Internet. Everything is downloadable and can be taken for free and I believe that people inherently need to seek something out to appreciate it.” The requirements are simple. Put one song on one CD with your name, email, contact number and make sure it arrives at dutil before January 31, 2012. Tune into CTV Monday Morning Live next Monday, January 16th, and get a first look at dutil’s spring collection, with new summer washes created with a dutil’s own bespoke technology.
