ANDORRA
"The devil is from Andorra!" Napoleon once said, but whether this East Van five-piece is from the lighter or the darker side they make devilishly good music. Viola sails over their bass-driven songs which also feature keyboard, guitars, drums, and evocative vocal harmonies. Sometimes atmospheric, sometimes indie pop, and even a little noisy at times, Andorra will keep you guessing, with lyrics in English, French, and Finnish. Stylistically a mix of Sigur Ros, Radiohead, Cocteau Twins, and Stars, they're known for a live show that delves deep into your dreams and draws them into the open.
Andorra was formed in 2009 by Jonathan Young (bass, vocals) and Angie Lof (keyboards, guitar, vocals), a musical partnership for the ages. They released "kEPt", 2010's moody and distinctive EP, and were soon joined by Genevieve MacKay (viola, bells, vocals), Patrick Gilmore (guitar, bass, vocals), and Gabriel Scheare on drums. With the band's lineup now complete, they continue to write and perform, refining their unique sound and the compelling honesty of their lyrics.
Andorra has played at some of Vancouver's premier live music venues and shared the stage with artists such as Jess Hill, Durha, Jean-Paul de Roover, Combine the Victorious, and more. Continually forward-looking, they're ready to take the Vancouver music scene by storm.
