The latest addition to Gastown's trendy restaurant scene is the classy Pourhouse Restaurant - a late 19th century inspiration with simple, hearty European dishes. With all the hype and buzz surrounding Pourhouse in the latest weeks, the GastownBlog team was excited to get the inside scoop by partner Chuck Mcintosh, and executive chef Chris Irving. To no surprise, Pourhouse delivered, which is why we feature them as the latest up and coming restaurant in Gastown. "We serve simple hearty dishes with a fresh take" Chuck explains. "We've brought it [our menu] back to the basics and really focused on what's good." Taking a look at the menu, Pourhouse serves a wide selection of classics from roast beef, to salads, to seafood at reasonable prices. Continuing the tour the GastownBlog team was amazed by the detail behind the interior design. "Most of our furniture are antique pieces inspired by the mid 1800's to early 20th century" says Chuck. Everything from tables, chairs, upholstery, crown molding and chandeliers have a history behind them. Combined with the food and the ambiance, Pourhouse makes it on our list as one of the most unique dining experiences in Vancouver. Despite the beauty in its details, this restaurant is not complete. More additions are expected to follow to further enhance the dining experience. "For now, we're open to the public but the full launch of restaurant will be sometime in October" Chuck says. What do you think about the restaurant? Feel free to leave comments below. For more information visit the Pourhouse website.
