The BBQ and Chili festivities happens on Saturday August 31st and Sunday Sept 1st from 1 p.m. to 8 p.m. and include live music, BBQ & chili cookout competition, amazing food, wing-eating contest and craft beer tastings. Carrall Street, between Water Street and Cordova Street, will be transformed with a live music stage, picnic tables, patios, balloons and face painting for the kids. Participating Gastown restaurants will be competing for the title of best ribs, wings, brisket and chili. The judging team includes Celebrity Chef David Hawksworth, Vancouver Canucks star Jason Garrison, BC Lions player Angus Reid, media personality & radio DJ Joe Leary, Breakfast Television host Dawn Chubai.
The Festival will wrap up on Sunday night with an official after-party including a pig roast by Peckinpah, and live music from Vancouver’s hottest, up-and-coming band, The Boom Booms, with an exclusive listen to their new single, Real Love. The weekend’s festivities and fun are for great cause. All proceeds from the BBQ and Chili Festival will go to Athletics 4 Kids, helping to raise funds for kids with financial barriers to participate in sports and recreational activity.
